CHILD FRIENDLY DAY TRIP

Although there are plenty of things to do in the Town of Essex to make for a memorable adult only experience, don't forget there are more than enough child friendly activities to keep the whole family busy! Below is an example day trip you could do with the kids.

FIRST STOP: John R Park Homestead

Take a trip back in time and visit John R Park Homestead along County Rd 50. Home to the new Town of Essex Tourism Hub, you will find so much fun here for the whole family.

Built in 1842 along the banks of Lake Erie, the magnificent Classical Revival home of John and Amelia Park has been fully restored and costumed guides welcome visitors all year round. Explore the historic home, taste baking from the kitchen fireplace, and play with wooden toys in the children’s bedrooms. Witness the workings of an 1885 steam engine powered sawmill and stop by the blacksmith shop to see what’s happening at the coal-fired forge.

SECOND STOP: Colchester Beach & Waterfront

Take a stroll along the sandy shoreline or enjoy the breathtaking views from the bluffs. Borrow a volleyball from the harbour kiosk and rally with friends on the beachside courts. Just steps away, you’ll find the Pirate Ship Playground and Splash Pad at the top of the bluff, along with an ice cream shop and nearby restaurants. Colchester Beach has everything you need for the perfect day by the water.

THIRD STOP: Priscilla's & Here's the Scoop
